Hi, we are Vitaliy and Iris, two working professionals starting to live together.
We used to be great at managing our own money.
Two routines. Two systems that worked perfectly — until we moved in together. Then got married. Then tried to figure out how much we were actually spending on takeout every month.
Suddenly, things got messy.
We started asking:
- Are we spending more this year than last?
- Is it time for a bigger place — and can we afford it?
- Are we saving enough for the future?
- Wait… how much we spend on the dine out event last week?
We looked for a tool to help us get on the same page — something built for shared lives, without asking us to hand over our bank passwords.
We couldn't find one.
So, we built Duo Spend.
We wanted something:
- Simple.
- Private.
- Actually made for people like us — couples, roommates, families who want to track spending together without sharing everything.
We built Duo Spend to solve our own problem.
Now, we're sharing it with you.
Because living together doesn't have to mean tangled finances.
Why DuoSpend?
We built DuoSpend to help couples and families manage spending together — without giving up control of their financial data.
Plenty of apps offer budget tracking. But very few are built from the ground up with shared finances in mind. And even fewer actually respect your privacy.
We're two software engineers with over a decade of experience in the tech industry, having worked at companies like Amazon, Instacart, VMware, and Asana. We've built reliable software at scale and have seen firsthand the security concerns big platforms often face.
But DuoSpend is different — it's personal.
We built this tool not for millions of users, but for ourselves. For our own relationship. For our future. And now, we're sharing it with others who want the same clarity and control in their financial lives.
When we're not writing code, you'll find us hiking and soaking up the beauty British Columbia — it's where we recharge and reconnect. Long walks in nature are where most of DuoSpend's ideas started — conversations about spending, saving, and building a future together.
